An investigation has been launched into Sahibinden Information Technologies Marketing and Trading Inc. to determine whether the company violated Article 6 of the Act no 4054 on the Protection of Competition.
The investigation focuses on whether Sahibinden abused its market power by using user data obtained from its online vehicle sales platforms for corporate and individual members to gain an unfair advantage in the secondhand vehicle market. Additionally, the company’s dominance in advertising related to its Otobid service is under scrutiny.
The Competition Board’s preliminary inquiry, concluded on January 16, 2025, found significant evidence of a possible competition infringement. As a result, the Board has imposed interim measures to prevent further harm until the investigation is complete. These include changes to the display of Otobid service ads on the homepage, preventing individual users from being directed to ads, and measures to stop the use of combined user data across platforms.
The investigation and interim measures aim to safeguard fair competition in the online vehicle sales market.
