BERGEN, Norway — The Konkurransetilsynet will hold its annual competition law conference on May 28, 2026, bringing together academics, regulators and practitioners to discuss developments in Norwegian and international competition law.
The event will feature a range of speakers addressing current issues in antitrust enforcement, merger control and abuse of dominance cases.
Competition director Mads Magnussen will open the conference with an update on the authority’s work. The program also includes presentations by Lars Sørgard of the Norwegian School of Economics on acquisitions of start-ups by large companies and the challenges such transactions pose for merger control.
Richard Whish of King’s College London will provide an overview of recent developments in EU and EEA competition law. Representatives from EFTA Surveillance Authority — Knut Alexander Johnsen and Julie Andrea Nesse — will discuss legal tests and evolving theories of abuse in recent EU and EEA case law.
The conference will conclude with a presentation by Kristoffer Grøndahl of the University of Oslo on when competition authorities may resolve infringement cases through remedies.
The event will be chaired by Karin Laastad, who highlighted the role of such gatherings in fostering discussion across the competition law community. The conference will end with a networking reception for participants.
