Indonesia’s NCA Schedules Preliminary Hearing Into NTT Docomo Over Alleged Late Merger Notification

Jakarta, March 4, 2026 — Indonesia’s competition authority, the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU), has scheduled a preliminary examination of Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo Inc. on March 9, 2026 in connection with an alleged late notification of its acquisition of Intage Holdings Inc.

The hearing will take place at KPPU’s headquarters in Jakarta and will involve the presentation of the investigator’s report on the alleged violation and the examination of evidence gathered in the case.

The proceedings relate to Docomo’s acquisition of a majority stake in Japanese market research and data analytics company Intage in October 2023. Because both companies have direct or indirect business activities in Indonesia, the transaction was required to be notified to KPPU.

An earlier hearing scheduled for February 24, 2026 was postponed after representatives of NTT Docomo did not attend.

KPPU said the case has also been notified to Japan’s competition authority, the Japan Fair Trade Commission, through the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo in accordance with applicable international agreements between the two countries.

The preliminary examination, chaired by Mohammad Reza with panel members Hilman Pujana and Eugenia Mardanugraha, will run for 30 working days starting from February 24, 2026.
