Norwegian Authority Appoints Mads Magnussen as Director General

Bergen, January 5, 2026 — Mads Magnussen has started in the role of Director General at the Norwegian Competition Authority, where he will lead work to promote effective competition in markets for the benefit of consumers and businesses.

“I look forward to getting started in one of the most exciting jobs there is. The Norwegian Competition Authority has an important role in society, and I look forward to working together with all the skilled people who help ensure markets work as well as possible,” Magnussen said.

Magnussen is a lawyer trained at the University of Oslo and holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has worked for years on EU and EEA matters and related cases, including at the EFTA Court, and has previously served as legal director at the authority. He has also been a partner and department head at Wikborg Rein.

Magnussen is appointed on a fixed term of six years.
