ATHENS, Dec. 19, 2025 —
Greece’s Hellenic Competition Commission has decided to prioritise and formally assign to a rapporteur a series of cases concerning suspected vertical agreements in the markets for school bags and for the import, wholesale and retail trade of branded clothing and footwear.

The authority said the move follows earlier inspections carried out in 2021 at companies active in school bags and related products, which focused on suspected vertical arrangements with retailers. In 2024, the investigation was extended ex officio to the branded apparel and footwear supply chain.

The Commission stressed that appointing a rapporteur triggers statutory review deadlines but does not prejudge the outcome of the cases, which will be assessed under Greek and EU competition rules prohibiting anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominance.
