16 December 2025 – Copenhagen — The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority has published a set of significant guidance documents aimed at enhancing regulatory transparency and clarity for businesses and the public. The three new releases cover updated procedures for competition cases and technical requirements for fuel price disclosure.
The authority has updated its guidance on processes in competition cases, offering detailed descriptions of how such cases unfold—from initial screening and information gathering to hearings, engagement with the Competition Council, and potential court proceedings. The revised guidance also highlights options for expedited resolution, such as civil fines or commitments, and explains how companies and complainants can engage with and, if necessary, appeal decisions. Notably, the update reflects recent legal changes, including new rules on parent company liability under the ECN+ directive and updated fine-calculation principles introduced in 2024.
Alongside this, the authority has formally published the full 2025 version of the competition-process guidance on its website. This version consolidates tools and explanations designed to help businesses better understand their rights and obligations when involved in competition investigations.
In a separate move to increase market transparency in the motor fuel sector, the Authority also issued guidance for fuel retailers on how to implement a public API for real-time price data. From 1 January 2026, companies selling motor fuel above a certain volume threshold will be required to publish up-to-date pump prices both on their websites and through a publicly accessible API. This technical guidance outlines how to meet these requirements, enabling consumers and third-party services to access accurate price information and fostering stronger competition among fuel sellers.
