Oslo, October 14, 2025 — The Norwegian authority has extended restrictions on Circle K, YX Norge, and Uno-X Mobility Norge, prohibiting them from publishing recommended retail fuel prices on their websites until October 15, 2030.
Market Risks Unchanged
The original commitments, imposed in 2020 on Circle K and YX, aimed to prevent potential coordination of pump prices through shared price information. The authority noted that the structure and transparency of the Norwegian fuel market have not changed significantly, with few large players and visible daily price movements still creating opportunities for price alignment.
Coordination Concerns
“The exchange of sensitive pricing information still risks enabling coordination of both price levels and timing of increases, potentially leading to higher prices for consumers,” said Marita Mæland Skjæveland, director at the authority’s Department for Construction, Industry and Energy.
The case originated in 2019, when the authority investigated possible price cooperation between Circle K and YX. Although both companies denied wrongdoing, they agreed to stop publishing list prices as part of remedial commitments.
Following a corporate restructuring in 2024, the obligations now apply to both YX Norge AS and Uno-X Mobility Norge AS, extending the 2020 commitments to cover all relevant entities.
