Athens, December 9, 2025 — The Greek authority conducted unannounced inspections at several electricity generators and wholesale suppliers as part of a probe into suspected coordination affecting power production and pricing.

The authority is examining whether companies engaged in agreements or aligned conduct that may have restricted output or influenced pricing on the wholesale market. Investigators are also assessing potential unilateral conduct by a dominant supplier, including imposing unfair prices or limiting electricity production.

The inspections were carried out with the support of the Waste, Energy and Water Regulatory Authority, which is separately investigating compliance with the EU REMIT market-integrity framework.

The authority stressed that dawn raids do not imply wrongdoing and are used to collect evidence in early-stage inquiries. Companies subject to the inspections will have full rights of defence during the process.

Next Steps

The authority reiterated that it will prioritise interventions in sectors critical to households and the wider economy. It encouraged companies or individuals with relevant information to use its anonymous whistleblowing platform or leniency program, which allows for full or partial fine reductions for cartel participants who come forward.
