Slovenian Authority to Host Annual Competition Day Conference on November 3

Ljubljana, October 14, 2025 – The Slovenian Competition Protection Agency (CPA) has announced that its annual Slovenian Competition Day 2025 conference will take place on November 3, 2025, at Hotel Slon in Ljubljana. The event will bring together leading national and international experts to discuss merger control and enforcement practices.

The conference will open with remarks by Andrej Matvoz, Director of the Slovenian CPA, followed by a keynote address from Professor Ioannis Lianos, Chair of Global Competition Law and Public Policy at University College London.

The first session, “Simplified Merger Review: How to Simplify the Simplified,” will explore practical ways to streamline merger control procedures. Speakers include Janja Sosič of the CPA, Jon Palone of Cleary Gottlieb, Eva Škučfa of Škučfa Law, Lian Biser from DG COMP, and Inese Druvietė from the Latvian Competition Authority. The session will be moderated by Dave Anderson, Managing Partner at BCLP Brussels.

The second discussion, “Alternative Sanctioning Measures in Enforcement,” will examine evolving sanctioning tools in competition enforcement, drawing on Slovenian experience and international practice. Panelists include Eva Murovec from the CPA, Helena Belina Djalil of Fatur Menard Law Firm, Renato Ferrandi of the Italian Competition Authority, Sonia Nalpantidou from DG COMP, and Maria Canedo of the OECD.

The conference will be conducted in English, and participation in the event is free of charge, but registration is required as the number of seats is limited. Interested participants can register by emailing prijave.avk@gov.si.
