CPC Fines Sokol Hunting and Fishing Association for Unfair Competition

February 26, 2025 – Tutrakan, Bulgaria – The Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) has sanctioned the Sokol Hunting and Fishing Association in Tutrakan for violating Article 29 of the Law on Protection of Competition (LPC), which prohibits unfair competition.

The CPC imposed a fine of BGN 5,360 (USD2,871) on the association following an investigation initiated by the North Central State Enterprise DP. The inquiry found that Sokol engaged in unfair business practices by offering organized hunting tourism services at lower-than-standard prices, which were not always paid, and providing a higher-than-usual volume of services compared to other hunting associations.

These practices granted Sokol an unfair competitive advantage over professional enterprises in the sector, impacting market fairness.

The full decision is available in the CPC’s public electronic register: http://reg.cpc.bg.
