CMA Investigates Bidvest’s Planned Acquisition of Citron Hygiene

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has opened an investigation into Bidvest Group (UK) Plc’s (phs Group) anticipated acquisition of Citron Hygiene LP. The inquiry, launched on 4 December, 2024, aims to assess whether the merger would create a “relevant merger situation” under the Enterprise Act 2002 and potentially reduce competition in UK markets.

As part of its preliminary review, the CMA has issued an invitation to comment, allowing stakeholders to share their views on the transaction’s competitive impact. Interested parties can submit their responses by December 18, 2024.

Further updates will be provided as the CMA progresses its assessment.
