BUDAPEST, February 25, 2026 – The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has imposed a fine of HUF 49.9 million (approximately $155,000 USD) on Mobilredfox Kft. for unfair commercial practices related to price displays and promotions on its website.
The GVH launched proceedings in autumn 2024 after identifying systemic deficiencies in the company’s price and discount displays, including misleading original prices and a lack of internal pricing rules. The authority found that between March 9, 2023 and August 19, 2025, the system failed to give consumers accurate information about discounts.
Mobilredfox cooperated with the GVH, acknowledged the infringement and waived its right to legal remedy, also agreeing to binding commitments to improve pricing practices that may be reviewed in a follow-up inspection.
The GVH highlighted that clearer price display rules for domestic retailers have been in effect since May 2022 to support informed consumer decisions. Other companies, such as CCC and Answear, also made commitments after GVH proceedings, and About You faces over HUF 1 billion in payments for misleading promotions.
The case is registered under number VJ/42/2024.
