Beijing, January 14, 2026 — China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has opened an antitrust investigation into Trip.com Group Co., Ltd. over suspected abuse of market dominance, the authority said.

SAMR said the probe follows preliminary checks and was formally launched in accordance with China’s Anti-Monopoly Law. The authority did not disclose details on the specific conduct under scrutiny or the markets affected.

Trip.com, one of China’s largest online travel platforms, offers booking services for hotels, transportation, tours, and other travel-related products. The investigation comes amid continued regulatory focus on dominant digital platforms and alleged exclusionary practices that may restrict competition.

SAMR said the investigation is ongoing.
