Chilean FNE Briefs Mining Workers on Labour-Market Collusion Risks

Santiago, November 21, 2025 — The Chilean FNE held a meeting with the Coordinadora de Trabajadoras y Trabajadores de la Minería (CTMIN) to discuss risks of collusion in labour markets, as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to expand competition advocacy into worker-facing sectors.

At the session, the head of the FNE’s Anticartel Division, Matías Belmonte, delivered a presentation on good practices for preventing collusive conduct among employers in the mining sector. Sub-chief Rosana Zamora and economic coordinator Stefano Banfi also took part, responding to questions from CTMIN representatives on wage-fixing, no-poach agreements and related risks.

The meeting forms part of a broader initiative by the FNE to increase outreach to worker organisations. The Anticartel Division has previously met with professional and labour groups including the Association of Pilots of Chile, the Confederation of Banking Workers, the Medical Association, the National Nurses’ Association, the National Construction Workers’ Union and the National Agricultural Federation of Temporary Workers.

Workers can confidentially report suspected collusion through the FNE’s secure platform, and employers may request leniency through the authority’s delación compensada programme.
