Brno, November 11, 2025 — The Czech authority has fined electronics distributor K+B Progres CZK 9.9 million (approximately $472,820) for imposing resale price restrictions on its retailers in breach of both national and EU competition rules.

The Úřad pro ochranu hospodářské soutěže (ÚOHS) found that between 2018 and June 2023, K+B Progres fixed minimum resale prices for household appliances and consumer electronics, monitored compliance, and penalised dealers that failed to follow its pricing instructions. The conduct, the authority said, distorted competition and raised consumer prices across Czech markets for small and large household appliances.

K+B Progres distributes several leading appliance brands in the Czech Republic and owns the ECG home appliance label. The company also controls retail chains expert ČR and Elektrocentrum s.r.o.

In setting the fine, the authority took into account the seriousness and duration of the infringement but granted a significant reduction because the company cooperated extensively, submitted a leniency application, settled the case, and implemented a competition compliance programme. The final fine was lowered to CZK 9,904,000.

The decision, which became final at first instance, also prohibits K+B Progres from enforcing any similar resale price maintenance agreements in the future.

The Czech authority has issued several major fines for such conduct in the electronics and pet-food sectors in recent years, echoing the European Commission’s recent sanctions on major fashion brands for comparable price-fixing practices.
