Ankara, November 4, 2025 — Turkey’s Competition Authority has launched an investigation into Muya Poliüretan Kauçuk Sanayi, a footwear manufacturer active in women’s, men’s, children’s, and medical shoe and sandal segments, over allegations of restrictive practices affecting its authorised dealers.

Alleged Restrictions on Retailers and Online Sales

The probe concerns claims that MUYA set resale prices for its retailers and distributors and restricted passive sales, including online transactions. According to the authority, the company is suspected of dictating the resale prices applied by both brick-and-mortar retailers and online resellers, while preventing dealers from selling to customers located outside their allocated territories.

Under Turkish competition law, online orders are considered passive sales, meaning such restrictions may amount to a violation of Article 4 of the Law on the Protection of Competition.

The Competition Board decided at its meeting on October 2 to open a formal investigation into the company.

Next Steps

The authority said the investigation will determine whether Muya’s conduct constitutes an infringement by limiting intra-brand competition across Turkey. Evidence gathered during the proceedings will be used to establish whether the company breached the law through resale price maintenance or territorial sales limitations.
