Japan’s Authority to Host Policy Event in Nagano on December 3

Tokyo, October 22, 2025 — Japan’s Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) will hold a series of events in Nagano on December 3, aimed at deepening public understanding of competition policy and promoting compliance with antitrust and related business laws.

As part of its outreach activities, the JFTC will host a roundtable discussion between JFTC Secretary-General Hiroo Iwanari and six regional business and academic representatives. The meeting will focus on local economic conditions and policy feedback from the Nagano business community, which the authority will use to inform future competition policy initiatives.

The roundtable will take place at the Nagano Lifelong Learning Center from 14:00 to 15:30.

The JFTC will also hold a “One-Day Fair Trade Commission” event at the same venue, featuring several free public seminars on business compliance and competition issues. The program includes:

  • Briefing on the Act on the Optimization of Transactions Involving Freelancers and Business Operators (10:00–11:30)
  • Workshop on the Act on the Optimization of Subcontracting Transactions for SMEs (13:00–14:30)
  • Explanation Session on the Smartphone Software Competition Promotion Act (15:00–16:00)
