Slovak Authority Fines TV Operator for Failing to Submit Information in Ongoing Dominance Probe

Bratislava, October 8, 2025 – The Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic (AMO) has imposed a fine of €2,430 (approximately $2,829) on a television retransmission operator, TV Markíza, for failing to provide requested information within the prescribed deadline, despite repeated reminders.

The penalty relates to an ongoing administrative proceeding against TV Markíza for possible abuse of dominance concerning the licensing of its TV archive and other on-demand (non-linear) television services. As part of fact-finding in the case, AMO sought information from several operators active in the Slovak market in May 2025.

One of the contacted operators did not provide the requested data within the specified period and only submitted the information on September 1, 2025, after receiving a formal notice warning of an impending fine.

AMO stated that the fine reflects the seriousness of the non-compliance and serves both preventive and punitive purposes, amounting to roughly 0.5 percent of the operator’s turnover from the previous fiscal year.

The decision is not yet final, and the operator has the right to file an appeal.
