Jakarta, October 9, 2025 – Indonesia’s Competition Commission (KPPU) has formally approved a Compliance Program submitted by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), making it the first mining company in the country to secure such certification.
The certification will be valid for five years from the date of issuance. KPPU described the move as a milestone for embedding fair business practices in Indonesia’s mining sector and praised PT Bukit Asam for taking the lead.
“The Compliance Program is dynamic and must continue to evolve alongside changes in market structures and business conduct,” said Hilman Pujana, the Commission Chair.
PT Bukit Asam first submitted its compliance framework on April 12, 2023, and has since met all required criteria. According to KPPU, the approval underscores PT Bukit Asam’s commitment to good corporate governance and adherence to fair market conduct. The authority urged other firms—especially those under Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID) and state-owned mining companies—to follow suit.
“Early compliance represents a preventive commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent business ecosystem in Indonesia,” Hilman added.
