Santiago, September 30, 2025 — Chile’s Fiscalía Nacional Económica (FNE) has launched a new online section on its website, bringing together key resources on free competition and the impact of collusion in labor markets. The initiative is part of the FNE’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and promote compliance with competition law in employment contexts.
The new digital hub compiles policy papers, guidance documents, news, and videos related to competition in labor markets, organized by topic for easy access. It is intended to support the FNE’s broader campaign to educate unions, professional associations, and employers about the risks and consequences of anticompetitive practices such as wage-fixing and no-poach agreements.
The move also aligns Chile with international competition authorities — including the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division, Canada’s Competition Bureau, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), and Portugal’s Autoridade da Concorrência — with which the FNE maintains close collaborative ties.
As part of this awareness campaign, the FNE’s Anticartel Division last week met with the leadership of the Confederation of Banking and Financial System Unions. The meeting focused on best practices to prevent collusion in labor markets, with Belmonte delivering a presentation and engaging in a Q&A session with representatives of banking sector unions.
In the coming weeks, the FNE’s Anticartel Division will continue organizing outreach sessions with labor unions, professional associations, and business federations, to encourage compliance and ethical competition practices in labor relations.
