The General Superintendence of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (SG/CADE) has initiated an investigation into the Regional Council of Real Estate Brokers (Creci/PE) for alleged price-fixing practices in the real estate brokerage market in Pernambuco. The inquiry was triggered after a broker received a violation notice for advertising a commission discount on Instagram, in contrast to higher rates set by Creci/PE. SG/CADE discovered that the council’s website promoted a contract model with inflated commission rates and continued to use an outdated code of ethics potentially influencing uniform pricing practices. As a preventive measure, Creci/PE has been ordered to remove posts that associate discounts with unethical practices and halt administrative actions against brokers offering discounts. The investigation could result in fines ranging from R$50,000 to R$2 billion.
