The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) is investigating possible cartel behavior in the anesthesiology market in the Federal District, following a complaint by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPDFT). The investigation focuses on the Cooperativa dos Médicos Anestesiologistas do Distrito Federal (Coopanest/DF) and its members, with evidence suggesting attempts to centralize negotiations, impose uniform practices, and restrict market entry through high financial barriers. The case gained momentum after the launch of Operation Toque de Midaz on April 10, targeting a criminal organization allegedly involved in cartel practices. Cade plans to request judicial access to evidence gathered during the operation to strengthen its probe into potential violations of competition law.
