Danish Competition Authority Probes Grocery Pricing Policies

The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority is meeting with major grocery chains to gain deeper insights into pricing policies, promotional strategies, and the use of digital pricing tools. The initiative aims to ensure strong competition in Denmark’s grocery sector, benefiting consumers with better prices and service.

Director Jakob Hald emphasized that the Authority is conducting a market study, with no suspicion of competition law violations. The investigation follows broader monitoring of price trends since 2022 and recent antitrust fines issued to grocery chains in Norway.

The Authority will use the findings to promote fair competition in Denmark’s grocery market.
