Bogotá, February 21, 2025 – The Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) carried out administrative inspection visits on February 12-14, 2025, targeting various companies in Colombia’s natural gas sector, including producers, distributors, marketers, importers, and the Colombian Natural Gas Association (Naturgas).
The inspections aimed to gather information on the wholesale gas market to ensure compliance with competition regulations. Conducted under SIC’s constitutional and legal powers, the visits did not constitute searches or require court orders. No formal investigation has been launched, as the process remains in its preliminary phase.
SIC clarified that a report by the Attorney General’s Office circulating on social media is unofficial and that the agency has responded to its observations. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to upholding free competition and consumer rights while maintaining confidentiality and security of the collected data.
