The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has announced that CEO Scott Gregson will leave the agency to become the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
Mr. Gregson, who joined the ACCC in 1996 as a graduate, has served in various leadership roles, including Executive General Manager of the Merger and Authorisation Review Division and the Consumer Enforcement Division. He was appointed as CEO in August 2020.
ACCC Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb praised Mr. Gregson’s nearly 30-year career, highlighting his contributions to enforcement, diversity, and organisational improvement. She described his departure as “a great loss for the ACCC and a great gain for ASIC.”
Mr. Gregson expressed his gratitude for his time at the ACCC and excitement for the challenges ahead at ASIC. He will begin his new role after taking leave, starting in mid-March.
The ACCC will commence a recruitment process to find his replacement.
