The Lithuanian Administrative Court of Regions has rejected (2 December) Maxima LT’s appeal to annul the Competition Council’s decision to terminate an investigation into the company’s practices toward its suppliers.
The Competition Council had ended the investigation in April 2023, citing the need to protect suppliers’ data and interests. Maxima LT challenged this decision, claiming it was illegal and unfounded.
However, the court ruled that Maxima LT failed to demonstrate that the termination was unjustified. It also noted that the Council’s decision caused no legal consequences warranting judicial correction. Additionally, the court declined to review Maxima LT’s arguments about the Council’s earlier investigation in 2022, emphasizing that decisions to initiate probes cannot be appealed.
Maxima LT has 30 days to appeal this ruling to the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania.
