The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced (7 November) an open virtual meeting to be held on November 14, 2024, where the public will have the chance to engage directly with FTC officials. Chair Lina M. Khan will kick off the meeting with introductory remarks, after which members of the public will be invited to share their views on the FTC’s work or raise relevant issues.
A highlight of the tentative agenda is the unveiling of the FTC’s new online merger portal. Staff from the Bureau of Competition will present the portal, which provides a platform for stakeholders, market participants, and the public to submit comments on mergers and acquisitions under FTC review. This tool is part of the FTC’s broader efforts to enhance transparency and public involvement in merger evaluations, offering a direct channel for feedback on potentially impactful transactions.
Members of the public interested in speaking at the meeting can sign up by Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET. Each participant will have two minutes to present their comments, with the option to submit written statements or prerecorded videos through an online form for those unable to attend live.
