BRATISLAVA, April 24, 2026 — The appeals body of the Protimonopolný úrad Slovenskej republiky has upheld fines against two companies for failing to provide information requested during a cartel investigation, while adjusting parts of the original decisions.
The Rada Protimonopolného úradu Slovenskej republiky confirmed that both AGB ekoservis s.r.o. and Websupport s. r. o. breached their obligation to cooperate with the authority during a probe into a possible cartel in the handling of hazardous medical waste.
Companies refused to provide requested data
According to the authority, both companies refused to supply information sought by investigators during the inquiry. During an inspection at AGB ekoservis, officials discovered only communications from shortly before the inspection took place.
Further investigation suggested that a significant portion of deleted communications was still stored by Websupport, which provides hosting and domain services.
The authority requested the communications from both companies, but neither complied with the request, prompting the regulator to conclude that they had violated their legal obligation to provide information relevant to the investigation.
Appeals body adjusts decisions
The council agreed with the authority’s conclusion that both companies had breached Slovakia’s competition law, which requires companies — including third parties holding relevant information — to provide documents and data necessary for competition investigations.
In the case of Websupport, the council corrected inconsistencies between the reasoning and operative part of the original decision but left the fine unchanged at €60,100.
For AGB ekoservis, the council revised the reasoning and reduced the fine to €52,800.
Decisions now final
The decision against AGB ekoservis became final on 22 April 2026, while the ruling concerning Websupport took effect on 21 April 2026.
Both companies retain the right to challenge the decisions before a court.
