Finland Extends Loihde/BLC Turva Merger Review Deadline to 27 May 2026

HELSINKI, April 10, 2026 — Finland’s merger review of the proposed acquisition of BLC Turva by Loihde has been extended after the competition authority requested more time to assess potential competition concerns.

The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority said the Market Court has extended the deadline for the investigation until 27 May 2026, following an application by the authority.

The FCCA opened an in-depth (Phase II) investigation on 13 January 2026 into Loihde’s planned acquisition of BLC Turva.

Both companies operate in the physical security sector, offering electronic security technology, structural security systems, and related installation, maintenance and support services. Loihde is also active in the digital security market.

Concerns in regional locking systems markets

According to the FCCA’s preliminary assessment, the transaction could harm competition in the locking systems markets in the regions of South Karelia, South Savo and Central Finland.

To allow additional time for the investigation and potential remedies, the authority asked the Market Court on 9 April 2026 to extend the review period, which had originally been due to expire on 22 April.

The merging parties are currently preparing commitments aimed at addressing the competition concerns identified in the authority’s initial analysis.

Both companies supported the extension request, which the Market Court approved on 10 April 2026.
