GATINEAU, Quebec — The Competition Bureau Canada will increase its merger review filing fee to C$90,198.19 starting April 1, 2026, up from C$88,690.45.
The adjustment follows the annual indexation mechanism set out in Canada’s Service Fees Act, which requires certain government service fees to be updated in line with changes in the Consumer Price Index.
Under the Competition Act, companies must notify the bureau of mergers, acquisitions or other transactions that meet specified financial thresholds. The filing fee applies to parties submitting a pre-merger notification or requesting an Advance Ruling Certificate.
According to the bureau, the fees help fund its merger review activities and support the agency’s service standards in assessing transactions that could substantially lessen or prevent competition.
