SOFIA, March 26, 2026 — The leadership of the Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition held a working meeting with representatives of the National Association of Grain Producers and the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber to discuss competition issues in key agricultural markets.
During the meeting, KZK chair Rossen Karadimov outlined the authority’s ongoing sector analysis of the food market, which examines the entire supply chain from producers to retailers. He also referred to a current in-depth review of the dairy market and a pending merger case in the sector.
Representatives of the agrarian organisations raised concerns about distortions in the sunflower purchasing market and the fertiliser market, urging the authority to examine relations between producers and processors and to investigate rising fertiliser prices and potential supply shortages.
Karadimov said the authority would consider the issues and, once a formal complaint is submitted, take the necessary steps within its powers to analyse the markets and ensure effective competition.
