Sofia, November 28, 2025 — The Bulgarian authority has held high-level meetings with Germany’s Bundeskartellamt and Austria’s Federal Competition Authority to advance cooperation and exchange expertise.
Cooperation Agenda
Commission chair Assoc. Prof. Rosen Karadimov met Bundeskartellamt president Andreas Mundt and Austria’s competition chief Dr Natalie Harsdorf during the European Competition Network leadership forum. Discussions centred on opportunities for deeper technical cooperation and more structured expert exchanges among the three authorities.
Karadimov outlined the priorities of Bulgaria’s new leadership team and ongoing work on sector analyses covering essential food and pharmaceutical supply chains.
Sector Studies
The Bulgarian authority is mapping structural issues across the entire essential food supply chain, from primary production to retail. Karadimov said the project will produce Bulgaria’s first competitive landscape map of this sector.
Interim findings will be opened for public consultation to inform potential administrative or legislative measures.
Legislative updates shared at ECN forum
During the forum, Bulgaria also presented recent amendments to its competition law. The changes reflect OECD recommendations and are intended to strengthen the authority’s enforcement capacity, increase legal certainty for businesses and enhance the overall protection of market rivalry.
