Spanish Authority Raids Private Healthcare Firms Over Suspected Coordination

Madrid, November 27, 2025 — The Spanish authority has carried out inspections at several private healthcare and health-consultancy companies as it examines possible coordinated conduct and potential dominance issues in the sector.

Preliminary inspections

Between November 18 and 21, officials from the authority, supported by a regional competition body, executed unannounced inspections at multiple firms active in private care provision and related consultancy services. The checks are a preliminary step and may lead to a formal case, though the authority stressed they do not prejudge the outcome or the liability of the companies involved.

Investigative focus

The authority is assessing whether competitors may have coordinated commercially sensitive conduct or entered into agreements affecting the supply of private healthcare services. It is also examining whether certain providers may have leveraged a dominant position. If confirmed, the conduct could infringe Articles 1.1 and 2 of Spain’s domestic rules.
