Bratislava, November 20, 2025 — The Slovak authority released its first systematic analysis of competitive conditions among employers, finding sharp regional disparities in labor market competition and wage outcomes across the country.
The study, titled Hospodárska súťaž na trhu práce, shows that labor markets around regional capitals exhibit healthy levels of employer competition, while less developed areas of eastern and southern Slovakia face far more concentrated employer structures. According to the authority, weaker competition in those regions is closely associated with lower wages.
The analysis also highlights how modern data-driven tools can be used to detect indications of potentially problematic conduct, such as wage-fixing or no-poach arrangements. While the study does not identify infringements, it concludes that these analytical techniques can strengthen oversight of labor markets and help the authority better target potential risks.
The full study is available in Slovak and English on the authority’s website.
