Croatia to Host Annual Conference on Merger Trends and Digital Compliance

Zagreb, November 4, 2025 — The Croatian Competition Agency (AZTN) will hold its annual international conference, titled “New Trends in Merger Assessment and Compliance with Competition Rules in the Digital Environment”, on Friday, November 7, at Hotel Dubrovnik in Zagreb.

The event will bring together leading national and international experts to discuss evolving challenges shaping competition law and policy in Croatia, the EU, and beyond.

The conference will open with a keynote address by Ori Schwartz, Head of the Competition Division at the OECD, who will outline the key issues competition authorities face amid rapid market transformations.

Two thematic panels will follow, focusing on emerging trends in merger review and compliance in digital markets. Confirmed speakers include Daniele Calisti, Head of the Mergers Unit at the European Commission’s DG COMP, Andrej Matvoz, Director of Slovenia’s Competition Protection Agency, Nuno Cunha Rodrigues, President of the Portuguese Competition Authority, and Bogdan Marius Chiritoiu, President of the Romanian Competition Council, alongside numerous Croatian and international experts.

Open to practitioners, academics, and policymakers, the conference offers a platform for knowledge exchange, discussion of regulatory developments, and networking among competition professionals.
