The Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic (PMÚ) has closed its investigation into wholesale access to mobile networks for mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).
The probe was launched in late 2024 following a complaint suggesting that full-service mobile operators might have been abusing their dominant market positions. PMÚ examined multiple aspects of the case and consulted with businesses and the relevant regulator.
After reviewing all available information, the authority found no evidence to justify continuing the investigation or opening formal proceedings. The case has therefore been formally closed.
PMÚ emphasized, however, that it may revisit the issue if new relevant information emerges.
The authority also highlighted a recent analysis by the Office for Regulation of Electronic Communications and Postal Services, which assesses the competitive, technical, and economic conditions of the Slovak mobile market. Additionally, PMÚ noted that the latest mobile frequency auction, concluded in July 2025, has introduced changes in the telecommunications sector, creating opportunities for renewed negotiations between operators and prospective MVNOs seeking wholesale network access.
