Vilnius, 7 August 2025 – Lithuania’s Competition Council has given Estonian media group Ekspress Grupp two more months to meet obligations linked to its acquisition of news portal lrytas.lt, extending the deadline to 7 October.
The regulator had ordered Ekspress Grupp to undo the effects of completing the deal without prior approval, after finding the 2023 transaction could harm competition and consumers. A court has temporarily suspended part of the order requiring full restoration of the pre-merger situation, pending a final ruling.
Ekspress Grupp had sought a six-month extension, but the Council said swift compliance was needed, as the anti-competitive deal was concluded more than two years ago. The decision cannot be appealed.
