The Norwegian Competition Authority has warned it may block the planned merger between media monitoring firms Retriever and Infomedia, citing concerns over reduced market competition. The Authority believes the deal could lead to higher prices and lower quality for customers, as the two companies are currently the largest players in Norway’s media monitoring market.
A formal notice outlining the Authority’s concerns has been sent to the companies, who now have 15 working days to respond. A final decision is due by June 25, 2025. The Authority notes that other market players are unlikely to offset the loss of competition if the merger proceeds.
