Brasília, 23 April 2025 — Brazil’s antitrust regulator CADE has conditionally approved DaVita’s acquisition of Brasnefro, Fresenius Medical Care’s dialysis clinic network, imposing structural and behavioral remedies to address competition concerns in key markets.
The approval is contingent upon the sale of clinics in Recife, João Pessoa, Distrito Federal, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro, where market concentration was deemed high. DaVita is also barred from acquiring new clinics in São Paulo for three years and in Rio for four years, and must notify CADE of all transactions in Brazil for five years.
CADE will monitor compliance through a trustee, with enforcement mechanisms in place for non-compliance.
