Sofia, Bulgaria – February 18, 2025 – The Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) has imposed a financial sanction on Prometrix OOD for engaging in unfair competition practices.
The company has been fined BGN 7,740 (USD 4,142), equivalent to 1% of its total turnover, for violating Article 36, paragraph 1 of the Bulgarian Competition Act.
The penalty follows a decision by the Bulgarian Administrative Court of Justice, which was subsequently upheld by the Supreme Administrative Court. The ruling established that Prometrix OOD had engaged in practices contravening the Law on the Protection of Civil and Commercial Property. Additionally, the court found that the Hestia Foundation had violated Article 29 of the same law. However, despite the ruling against Hestia Foundation, no financial sanction was imposed due to the organization’s lack of income from business activities, as reflected in its financial reports.
The case was referred to the CPC for enforcement of the applicable financial penalties under Bulgarian law. The CPC’s decision is publicly accessible via its electronic register at https://reg.cpc.bg.
