Thailand’s Trade Competition Commission (TCC) has dismissed a case against a major ride-hailing platform accused of unfairly suspending a driver’s account. The driver, who filed the complaint, alleged that their account was deactivated without a clear explanation.
Following an investigation, the TCC found that the suspension was justified. The driver had allegedly overcharged passengers on nine separate occasions, violating the platform’s service standards. Before the final suspension, the platform had issued multiple warnings and temporary bans in accordance with its policies.
The TCC ruled that the platform’s actions were consistent with established business standards and did not constitute an abuse of dominance or anti-competitive conduct under Thailand’s Trade Competition Act. As a result, the case was dismissed on 17 October 2024.
