The Chairperson of the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC), Han Ki-Jeong, outlined (3 January) key policy priorities for 2025 in a New Year’s message emphasizing consumer rights, small business support, and competition in dynamic markets.
The address highlighted the KFTC’s commitment to fostering innovation and ensuring fair practices in evolving sectors such as digital platforms and global trade.
Key initiatives include enhancing protections for small businesses, addressing unfair internal transactions within large corporations, and promoting legislative action against monopolistic practices by dominant platforms. The KFTC also pledged to strengthen consumer rights in areas ranging from digital transactions to senior services, reflecting demographic shifts like aging and declining birth rates.
