Greek Authority Publishes Practical Guide on Resale Price Maintenance

Athens, January 16, 2026 — The Greek authority has published a practical guide on resale price maintenance, outlining how the practice is assessed under competition rules and in the authority’s enforcement practice.

The authority described resale price maintenance as a business conduct — through an agreement or concerted practice — in which a supplier directly or indirectly limits a buyer or reseller’s ability to independently set the resale price of products, leading the reseller to sell at a specific or minimum price.

According to the authority, the guide explains what resale price maintenance is and how it is treated under competition law, using examples to help clarify the concept.

The authority said the aim of the guide is to help businesses understand what resale price maintenance means, when and why it is prohibited, and to encourage companies to assess their own conduct accordingly.

The guide is available on the authority’s website.

In December 2025, the authority decided to prioritise and formally assign to a rapporteur a series of cases concerning suspected vertical agreements in the markets for school bags and for the import, wholesale, and retail trade of branded clothing and footwear.
