Qatari Ministry Launches Awareness Drive on Compliance With Fair Market Rules

Doha, December 4, 2025 — The Qatari ministry has begun a nationwide awareness programme aimed at helping companies understand their obligations under the country’s competition law and avoid practices that could undermine market fairness.

Promoting Voluntary Compliance

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the initiative, structured as a series of sector-focused workshops, is designed to improve understanding of the Protection of Competition and Prevention of Monopolistic Practices Law and its executive regulations. Officials said the goal is to encourage voluntary compliance and reduce the likelihood of infringements.

The opening session outlined the main provisions of Law No. 19 of 2006, including prohibited conduct, enforcement tools, penalties and procedures for voluntary correction. Officials also highlighted the economic risks associated with anti-competitive behaviour and the importance of embedding a culture of fair dealing in the private sector.

Strengthening Engagement With Industry

Companies from multiple priority sectors attended the launch, which the ministry said reflects its commitment to knowledge-sharing and best-practice adoption in regulatory compliance. The session closed with recommendations to deepen public-private cooperation and continue regular awareness activities to support a more competitive and sustainable business environment in Qatar.
