The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has opened (5 November) an investigation into MRI Software LLC’s recent completed acquisition of Capita One Limited, a company in the electronics sector.
The inquiry, announced today, follows the CMA’s issuance of an initial enforcement order under section 72(2) of the Enterprise Act 2002, which temporarily restricts the integration of the two companies while the CMA assesses potential competition issues.
The current inquiry is in Phase 1, during which the CMA will determine if the merger raises competition concerns. A deadline for the Phase 1 decision has yet to be set, and the CMA will soon invite public comments on the merger.
